Chicago Jazz Guitar Hang & Jam

Chicago Jazz Guitar Hang & Jam is a monthly feature of Chicago's most talented jazz guitarists.

Hang:
The HANG portion will include the featured jazz guitarist who will play a set of music with our house rhythm section and guitar host Tony do Rosario. We will also have a little Q & A to get to know our featured guests.

Jam:
The JAM portion of the night is the second set where the featured guest will invite some of their students to play alongside them to have a musical dialogue on the stage at the world famous Jazz Showcase.

This months feature: Neal Alger

Neal has performed or recorded with Lin Halliday, Howard Levy, Grazyna Augusick, Leslie Gore, Under the Streetlamp, and most notably, singer/pianist Patricia Barber. Neal has toured Europe, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Russia, and the U.S. with Patricia and he is featured on her Blue Note Records releases Verse (2002), Live: A Fortnight in France (2004), Mythologies (2006), The Cole Porter Mix (2008), and Higher (2019) . Neal has also appeared on recordings by Chicago-based musicians/groups including William Kurk Enterprise, Jo Ann Daugherty, Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, Bad Sneakers Orchestra (Steely Dan Tribute), Matt Geraghty, Sharay Reed, and Brian Gephart. Neal's latest project is the Here and Now Quintet, devoted to performing his original straight-ahead jazz compositions.
